I have a new book coming out on September 5 called “Think Twice” and I want to challenge you with some tricky puzzles today.
1. Duck Dilemma: There are two ducks in front of two ducks, two ducks behind two ducks, and two ducks in between. How many ducks are there in total?
2. Circle Conundrum: Imagine walking around a circle with Big Ben at the center. If the radius is 1 km, you walk roughly 6.28 km. If the radius is 100 km, you walk roughly 628 km. If the radius is 10,000 km, will you walk roughly 62,800 km?
3. String Situation: A bottle of water hangs from the ceiling by a string, and a handle hangs from the bottle by another piece of string. If you pull the handle down and a string breaks, which one breaks – the top one, the bottom one, or do they break at the same time?
These puzzles may seem simple at first, but the answers might surprise you. I’ll reveal the solutions at 5 pm UK time. Feel free to discuss the puzzles, but no spoilers, please!
